Additive Manufacturing of Tool Steels

چکیده
The public funded project “AddSteel” aims to develop functionally adapted steel materials for additive manufacturing (AM). Based on the AM process laser powder bed fusion (LPBF), holistic chain, including alloy design, atomization, AM, and postheat treatment, is considered achieve this objective. Tool steels are usually characterized by higher carbon content limited weldability, leading processability LPBF. To extend these limitations, different approaches tool investigated: high-carbon steels, effects of lower martensite start temperature investigated using 1.2842 as an example. A low seems be advantageous crack-free processing with In order avoid a high hardness level after rapid cooling, use hot work 0.2 wt% investigated. Due chemical composition material, moderate preheating <300 °C required. addition, very scanning speeds possible improved shielding gas flow. Finally, experience along chain standard used modification 1.2344. heat treatment

Application of Additive Manufacturing in Marine Industry
The advantage of additive manufacturing (AM) (e.g. reasonable time and expense in prototyping, and reliable product) has triggered the idea of using this method in manufacturing of marine vessels components. The current article tries to introduce basic concepts of AM method and its application in marine industry; have a glance at additive-manufactured parts microstructure; elaborate the challen...
متن کاملSolidification Phenomena and Properties of Some Cast Tool Steels
The freezing process. microstructures and phase relationships in some experimental cast tool steels have been investigated and developed under the various solidification conditions. Experimental steels were based on AISI M2 and M10 grades high speed steels. Addition of carbide forming elements such as niobium and titanium with and without extra carbon were made to the molten bath of the base st...
متن کاملManufacturing Process Routes for Reinforcing Steels
In the UK, and in many other parts of the world, reinforcing steels are specified to British Standards, or very similar, which in the main do not specify process routes. As a result, many specifiers, purchasers and users are unaware of the different process routes used in their manufacture. Manufacturing process routes for some of the reinforcing steel products used have changed considerably in...
متن کاملLiving Additive Manufacturing
Living organisms such as bacteria are able to grow, respond to stimuli, and divide as part of their life cycle. Designing smart three-dimensional (3D) materials that are able to perform such feats, i.e., continue on-demand growth and respond to external stimuli, is always a challenge for polymer and material scientists. At present, Johnson and co-workers have made a significant step forward in ...
متن کاملAdditive Manufacturing – IDH Perspective
Additive Manufacturing (AM) technologies build near-net shape components one layer at a time using data from 3D CAD models. AM technologies are the result of evolution of work in 3D printing and stereolithography (the STL files used to convert 3D CAD to layers for building parts come from stereolithography terminology) and could revolutionize many sectors of U.S. manufacturing by reducing compo...
